The Jewish Film Festival has been held in Hong Kong for many times and has broadcast countless good films since its establishment in 2000. This yearas 24th edition of the film festival, held in three cinemas in Hong Kong from 11 to 19 November, will feature hundreds of feature films, documentaries and microfilm from over 30 countries. The event also invited a number of directors, producers, critics and curators to participate in the TV event.

The purpose of the Jewish Film Festival is to inspire and entertain the audience through films, introduce Jewish culture and traditions in Hong Kong, show videos about Jewish culture and the diversity of Israeli life, and the film’s themes are interesting and unique. The audience can learn about Jewish culture through these films.

Genre includes documentaries and short videos

The festival will feature over 20 feature feature films, comedies, documentaries and short films from different countries. These videos cover a wide range of areas of friendship, politics and more, and take viewers into the world and perspective of people that are hard to reach on weekdays. The opening film SHTTL, directed by French director Ady Walter, is set in the outskirts of Kiev, with a single camera shot, perfectly presents the life and love story of World War II, the eve of the Nazi invasion of Soviet Ukraine, and the Yiddish village.

In addition, there are other films such as The Future by Israeli director Noam Kaplan, The Shadow of the Day by Italian director Giuseppe Piccioni, and the documentary Without Precedent, each with a unique story and theme to give viewers an understanding of Jewish culture. English subtitles are available for all non-English films at the festival, and the premiere film SHTTL has English and traditional Chinese subtitles.
