SYNOPSIS: When a struggling French deserter (Benoît Poelvoorde) convinces his family to pose as Jews in order to escape Nazi-occupied France for the Free Zone, what begins as an act of desperation gradually becomes a confrontation with his own ignorance and antisemitism. Blending humor with moral complexity and reminiscent of films such as Life Is Beautiful and Jojo Rabbit, La Bonne Étoile explores how ordinary people are transformed by history, using humor as a lens to reflect on morality and survival. Director Pascal Elbé will be present and conduct a live Q&A following the film.
